A Lick of Peace in Lashi or Lacid of Myanmar in a Daily Dose of Peace

A Daily Dose of Peace. Each week, I focus on Love, Joy, and Peace in the world languages. February’s first week focuses on Myanmar in Asia.

Peace and lick are very similar words in lashi or lacid of Myanmar poetry with Kimberly Burnham. Chocolate Ice cream cone Photo by Markus Spiske on Unsplash

Have a Lick of Peace

In Lacid phonemic tones
make a big difference
high tone jɔ́ means have
mid tone jɔ means peace
low tone jɔ̰̀ means lick

In this language of Myanmar
where “mɨ:ŋ dam” literally country flat
also means peace
and “mjit mjɔ:” mind numerous
means worried

“nɨ k jɔ:” heart itch
means angry
“ɕa:m ɕóin” sword combine
means unity

Sometimes when we put words together
a new meaning emerges
it shows the inner workings
of our mind
