Endings and Forgiveness Poetry from Year of The Poet (Vol 24)

The last kiss would it be enough by Allef Vinicius on Unsplash

Last Kiss

What if this
was the last kiss
would it last
a lifetime
a kiss on the top
of a sleeping child’s head
a passionate kiss
the lover now a memorable ex
a peck on the cheek of grandma
now vanished from this life
a kissed finger
not broken after all

Last Forgiveness

I am sorry
not so easily
but withheld
regret beads up
like sweat
in summer heat
Feels like daylight
will last forever
sun setting
whether I forgive
or you forgive

Water and self-pity
just the same
