Envisioning the ability to remember the future in poetry and prose.

What if we could remember the future just the way we want it to be? What if we could look backwards in the past from a future vantage point? Would that help us heal?

Connected Visions

My mind’s eye / remembering / the day exactly / the sun streaming / the pitch of the window / routines became fun / easy even as new / projects sailed / huge dual wakes / love and benefit / as I cut through the work.

Leaving time for that elegant adventure / the forests where we / suddenly came upon a café / twenty-five years later.

I still remember the scent / the delicious flavor of the food there.

Where we talked with joy / of our children / spreading their own wings / flying in to laugh and enjoy / communing with our family friends / the kind of soul-friends / I have always craved.

Now financially free / I still seek / opportunities to share / creative business methodologies / a balance of inner thoughts / a constant stream of energy flowing in / as I give, give, give / love and wisdom away.

A poem based on Ellen Koronet’s vision of her future. Thanks for playing Ellen Koronet. “OOOOOOOOOOOH. THIS IS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!! — Ellen Koronet

What this poem bubbled out of from “My visions are all connected. 1. My office, finances, and daily routines are structured in a fun and easy to maintain way 2. New projects and completed projects flow to the benefit of myself and everyone I am “serving” without leaving a huge wake! 3. I am traveling and enjoying elegant adventures with my husband Dave Koronet for at LEAST another 25 years! 4. I laugh with and enjoy being with both of my children on a regular basis (but not TOO often) as they continue to spread their wings. 5. I have local friends (wherever I go) who are the kind of soul-friends I crave. 6. I am internationally known and sought after for creative business methodologies and inner thought process balance. 7. I am able to give give give without depletion. — Be more Breakthrough Speaker, Ellen Koronet

A Book

of poetry / written for you / a poem of the future past / introduction / bio / instructions / how to play / all written in / poems / to come / delve deep into / the words / sounds / syllables / inside your soul / waiting to birth forward / spiraling in time.

A spiral in time remembering the future by Reid Zura on Unsplash

Something Suspicious

A friend diagnosed / something “suspicious” / ominously the follow up test / looms knowing the power / of positive thinking / of relaxation / of guided imagery / visualization, I write / a poem just for her / for the life she will have / after it turns out / nothing wrong.

I write as if we are / the future looking back / the day she is told / she was healthy / nothing to worry about.

That day came soon / after I wrote the poem / I like to think / in the precious light of life / my poem affects her future.

There is power / in being able to see / your future / a positive light / a saying, “worrying is like / praying for what you don’t want” / what are you praying for? / Of course, Mark Twain said / I know that worrying works / for nothing / I have ever worried / about has come true.

Twins in Fluid Time

Time is more fluid / we think too linearly / photons move forward / backwards in time / your body made up of photons / tiny bits of light / illuminating the spiral path

Your memories powerfully drawn / remembering things as you imagine / they really happened / knowing you have the truth / yet wondering when you meet / an old friend / who tells a very different story

Even identical twins / experiencing the exact same event / sands of time / shading / irritating the oyster / produces a unique pearl / will not remember the details / in the same way / those twins linked at birth / separated by memories / inimitably created

Sometimes the path / they remember / vastly different from the other

Your Individual Poem

Remembering the Future / a Hundred Intentions / Flowing Into Time / Will You Be My Muse / a work in progress / entitles you / to a poem of your own / created especially for you / by award winning poet / Kimberly Burnham.

Want to Play?

Visualization Experiment

Ready

Is anyone every ready / for those spectacular moments / transitions on life’s journey / family moments / weddings / chance meetings / learning a new skill / a new language / is anyone really ready / to live

I was ready / had taken the classes / practiced / and then one night / on a lonely, muddy road / in the middle of nowhere / I pick up my motorcycle / fix that flat tire / that had sent me sprawling / and set off again

I was ready / excited even / my daughter looked so beautiful / my dance lessons / money well spent / as I spun her around the floor / on the day she dreamed of / all dressed in white / so proud of my little girl / all grown up

I was ready / still my son well ahead / on the steep mountain trail / but the training kept my lungs from bursting / as I picked my way / among the gray sparkling granite / journeying higher

I was ready with my phrase book / my wife and I / in a dream come true / yes the language was challenging / but within a few days / we made ourselves understood / It was there I meet an old friend / such a surprise / he laughed at the way I pronounce / the word for sandwich / and if felt like no time danced / since I saw him last / and told him about finishing the project / we had started so many years ago / how I patted myself on the back / saying “wow, I can’t believe we pulled that off”

Is anyone every ready / pondering, wanting and grateful for all / I have lived / as I feel the life slip out / knowing I’m ready

This poem came from Dave Andersen’s dreams of the future. Thanks for playing Dave Andersen. What this poem bubbled out of from Dave Andersen

On a lonely, muddy road in the middle of nowhere, I want to pick my motorcycle up off the ground, fix the flat tire myself, and ride it to my destination. I want to have the first dance with my daughter at her wedding. I want to hike up a steep mountain trail with my son and struggle to keep up with him. I want to travel somewhere with my wife and have us, together, slowly learn enough of the language to get by. I want to meet an old friend for the first time in forever and feel like the last time we were together was just yesterday. I want to finish a project and think to myself “wow, I can’t believe we pulled that off.” I want to feel the life slip out of my body and know that I’m ready.
