Peace in South America
Shhhh bring peace to South America
and the world
Carlos Saavedra honored with the 1936 Nobel Peace Prize
a mediator of conflict
between Paraguay and Bolivia
linguistically diverse countries
where “Paz” is peace in Spanish
but so is “Krɨ̃ba rõma” in Aché of Paraguay
“Inkamankiye” in Manjui Choroti of Bolivia
We need to be able to talk to our neighbors
understand our differences
listen to the other
sit and comfort a friend
via distances if necessary
stand up for each other
find peace in “Paz”, “Krɨ̃ba rõma”
and “Inkamankiye” alike
Assigning Meaning
Among the Kamayurá speaking people of Brazil
“Ikatu” or “Ikatu jako” means peace
in Guarani a Paraguayan language
“Ikatu” is said to be translated
to mean whatever the user desires
a multipurpose word can mean Yes, No, Maybe
or absolutely anything else
giving us each the power to imbue our words with meaning
let us find peace in the words we speak
in the way we hear words spoken
Love Art
Na na na na na na ….
art is on the street in Munasiña Taller, Chile
artists paint the doors
ordinary doors made special colorful and vibrant
kilometers away in the Bolivian and Peruvian language Aymara
“Munasiña” or “Muna” means to want and to love
We must all paint on our journey
life made precious colorful and vibrant
finding together our desires
“Samaraña” peace, “Takempis sumancaña” kindness
and “Cusisiña” joy in all we see
enjoying “Kusisami” our peaceful and lucky life
even if it must be “Muñapayaña”
the Aymara word for to love at a distance
