Sweet Edible Peas in a Pod
Found Poetry from The Red Sunflower Diaries and Garden Seed Pack Blackout Poetry
Garden peas are edible and have beautiful, often white flowers. The flowers like the peas themselves are sweet and crunchy and taste of peas. Edible garden peas bloom mostly in white, but may have other pale coloring. The blossoms are slightly sweet and crunchy and they taste like peas. Make sure you know what you planted because flowering ornamental sweet peas are poisonous.
Peas are cool season crops. Sow seeds 4 to 6 weeks before the last spring frost date. In zone 6 Spokane, Washington that is mid-February. Edible peas are annuals in the Fabaceae or Leguminosae family also known as the legume, pea, or bean family.

Eye Health and Peas
“Peas contain the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin. These nutrients help protect your eyes from chronic diseases, such as cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Lutein and zeaxanthin act as filters from harmful blue light, which contributes to cataracts and macular degeneration,“ according to WebMD.
