A Daily Dose of Peace. Each week, I focus on Love, Joy, and Peace in the world languages. February’s first week focuses on Myanmar in Asia.

The Heart of Peace in Akha of Myanmar, China and Thailand

In Akha spoken in Myanmar
China and Thailand
“nuuh mah” or “nui ma” means heart
“Nui ma si” is one’s heart
both physical and emotional
“Nuuh mah yaw muuhv” is a good heart

“Nuisar of” is peace
as is “Nui saˇ o”
“Nui saˇ oꞈ-eu” is to have peace of mind
“Nui saˇo luˬ -uˇˇ” means have peace or
let peace happen
“Nui ma saˇ lehˆ ni”
is to be at peace in one’s mind & heart

While “Nuuh mah chjawxf urh”
is a long way of saying sad heart
“keu”n-eu nui ma” is to be interested
literally heart arrived

And the way to say
keeping your inner peace
despite changes in Akha
“Dehꞈ ziˇ laꞈ k’oeˇ poˆ laˇ paˇ laˇ k’awꞈ
nui saˇ oꞈ daˆ leꞈ”

The Heart Book Language

The Akha of Myanmar
refer to their written language
Heart Book

Knowledge is heard and written
in the heart
committed to memory
for easy recital

Listening is an integral part
harmony of any village
knowing what is going on
who is saying what

The speaker and listener
in remote huts
everyone knows
it is impossible to protect
a language
while destroying
a culture
