A Peace Offering for Well-Being

Shalom translated peace
from Hebrew can also be well-being
health, complete, whole
if we substitute other meanings of peace
from different language we get

Tame offering
from Gedaged, a language of Papua New Guinea
“Mánan” means tame, docile, peaceful and obedient

Quiet offering
from Kaurna, an Australian language
“Kudla-yurlo” means peaceable and quiet

Prosperity offering
from Ga, an African language where
“Omanye” is peace, tranquility, and prosperity

Cool offering
from Carib spoken in Brazil
“Saràme” means peaceful, cool, relaxing

Each word for peace or peaceful
conjuring different images of what we offer in peace

Vayikra (Lev) 7:11 (CJB)
“‘This is the law for sacrificing peace offerings offered to Adonai: (TIPS Translation)

וְזֹ֥את תּוֹרַ֖ת זֶ֣בַח הַשְּׁלָמִ֑ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַקְרִ֖יב לַיהוָֽה׃ This is the ritual of the sacrifice of well-being (from the Hebrew Shalom) that one may offer to the LORD: (Sefaria)
