Cattle, Livestock, Care for in the House in Newari or Nepal Bhasa Torah Poetry with Kimberly Burnham Photo by T. Q. on Unsplash

Offering of Livestock

The Hebrew qorbān (קָרְבָּן) translated offering
means “that which is brought near”
like the German word “Darnahung” appraoch.
Cattle or livestock is translated from Hebrew
to Newari or Nepal Bhasa
as “living beings brought up in a house”
or “living beings cared for in a house”

Today what do we offer or bringing near
that is cared for in a house
or in our lives
to bring us peace
as the title of Nepal Bhasa / Newar poet Srilaxmi Shrestha
Shantiya Shanti: Peace and only Peace

Speak to the Israelite people, and say to them: When any of you presents an offering of cattle to the LORD, he shall choose his offering from the herd or from the flock. [Sefaria]
